Citizens dialogue

Public debates on the future of Europe

Meetings in this format have been held in EU countries since 2012. During the dialogues, Commissioners and representatives of the EU institutions explain how EU law affects the daily lives of EU residents, introduce participants to issues relating to the operation of the community and listen to the voices, opinions and proposals of citizens on the functioning of the Union.

Citizens’ Dialogue meetings take the form of open debates with the participation of the public. Everyone is invited to ask questions to European politicians and officials, make comments and express their views on how EU policies affect their daily lives. You can also share your vision for the future of Europe or specific areas of its functioning. The debates take place in various cities across the EU, participation is free of charge and many are broadcast live. You can also take part in the discussions on Twitter – hashtag #EUdialogues.

The interviewees included Internal Market Commissioner Elżbieta Bieńkowska and Director of Labour Mobility at the European Commission Jordi Curell Gotor.
